About four years ago, I decided that it was time I tried to do more things at home. I paid attention to what was going into my body; cooking from scratch and generally trying to be more aware of what I was consuming. I soon realized that if I was going to pay attention to that, why would I not want to do the same with the things I use on my body? I started small - lotion bars and lip balm. (I'm a serial lip balm loser. Every time I turn around, I've misplaced a tube.) I shared a few of these creations with friends and family, and they seemed to like them.
Then I started buying handmade soaps, because at the time, we lived in a tiny apartment, and I wasn't comfortable using lye in small confined spaces like that. Eventually, we made the move to a house, and I have been able to make my own soaps from scratch, and I love it! Crafting soap and body care products has become more than just a hobby for me. What started out as curiosity and a need to make enough for just my family has developed into a passion. I love creating things that are useful and make you feel indulgent, cared for, and pampered.
Lyebrarian Soaps evolved from this, when I realized I was making far more than I could ever use. There is something about the process of creating soap that is a glorious cross between mad science and art. Even when I have enough soap, I just can't help trying out that one...more...new thing. So I decided to put some soap up for sale. When trying to name my endeavor, I wove together my passion for soaps with my other love - books!
My hope is that you will find something here to help you unwind, relax, and feel good about what you are putting on your skin. Too often, we spend our days rushing from one task to the next and don’t take time to stop and breathe. I hope you find something here that can help you take a few moments to pamper yourself and relax a little.
